Private Label Rights – An Unmissable Opportunity for Profit

PLR (Private Label Rights) products enable marketers to retail existing products under licence. These products will almost invariably be information products in the form of DVDs, CDs, ebooks, downloads, printed reports, etc. This is different from Affiliate Marketing where marketers simply promote products and receive a commission on any sales that their promotion produces. Licences for PLR are purchased and come with terms of licence which clearly spell out what you can and can’t do with them.

Up the success ladderThe most useful kind of licence for internet marketers is the one which enables the marketer to rebrand the product and promote it as a unique item. The best of all is the “Certificate of Gold Reprint & Duplication Rights”. These give marketers almost unlimited options. The products can be rebranded with a new title, new design, new packaging etc. Sets of DVDs, for instance, can be split up and used individually or in smaller sets. Individual disks may be given away as free gifts or bonuses. The marketer has the right to present and promote these items as brand new products, so long as they stay within the terms of the licence. (Important!)

This rebranding of products and presenting them as your own new product happens in all forms of business and retailing, not just on the internet. For example, when Disney Pictures bring out a new film, they produce many related products for sale using images of characters from the film. They also grant licences to other businesses to use those same images within their businesses too and on their products (Franchising). There are far too many other examples to mention here, but many supermarkets have their, so-called, ‘own brand’ products which, in reality, will often stand on their shelves alongside the originally branded products. The ‘own brand’ products will almost inevitably be cheaper than the original and, therefore, more attractive to the customer.

With PLR products you could split up the chapters of an ebook, and sell them as a series of articles. You could also do the reverse of that by purchasing a set of PLR articles and combining them into an ebook or a comprehensive report on some niche issue. It will also be allowable within the terms of most licences to add to the information or use bits of it in combination with information from another source (perhaps something of your own).

If you find an ebook or report which really appeals to you as a product but feel that the language is not as good as you would like, you have the right to ‘improve’ it, bring it up to your standards. Perhaps you are an English marketer and the language is very American (American spellings and use of vocabulary, etc.) you have the right to make the necessary adjustments. The reverse of this is also true for an American marketer faced with an English document.

Taking a product which seems to be well past its sell-by date, it is possible to perk it up, bring it up to date and rebrand it so it, once again, becomes a valuable worthwhile product. If the product has quality then it is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The marketplace is for ever changing so there will be many, many people out there who missed it “first time around” and who would gain great benefit from purchasing it.

So, PLR products provide an excellent source of quality products for sale in your internet business. To be able to take these information products and present them as a uniquely branded item is a superb opportunity for marketers. If you feel ill-equipped to cope with the rebranding yourself, there are companies who will help you with the rebranding process, even do the whole rebranding process for you. As with most online support for marketers, this will not cost you an arm and a leg.

    • The blog software I have encountered requires no HTML knowledge at all. I have used Blogspot and WordPress. The latter has become the most popular recently.

    • Thank you for your message. You are experiencing what all writers do. I do my initial thinking away from the desk. There is nothing worse than staring at a blank screen or blank piece of paper. I use times doing other activities like gardening, cleaning the house, going for a walk, etc. to do my thinking. Once I have my inspiration, only then do I sit at the desk. I find that once I have the idea the writing comeas quite quickly. So, my main advice, based on my own experience, is do your thinking away from the computer screen and only come to your desk after you have had the ‘light bulb moment’. Good luck with the writing.

    • I do have a spam problem, apparently from just one source. It appears to come from China. Basically pages of advertising links. I have not, as yet, found a soultion. I simply click them as spam and delete them.

    • Hello there. Running a blog is a bit of a commitment. I try to produce an article everyday when I can but this isn’t always possible. I would say that having a routine is important. I try to do my writing first thing in the morning. Decide how often you are going to put up a new article and try to stick with it. Writing about things that really interest you or where you have some knowledge or expertise is obviously going to be a great help. The ideas flow much better. Sometimes you will nedd to research things that you are wanting to write about which will take a bit of time, but, at least the internet is a great resource for doing the research you need. If you start your own blog, I wish you luck in your new venture and try to enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it there isn’t much point in doing it! Thank you for your comments and very best wishes. Rob
