The Christmas Pantomime Season: – Cinderella

p0312856Once upon a time in a country very much like this one, there was a beautiful girl called Cinderella. Now, Cinderella desperately wanted to go to the ball at the palace where the handsome prince lived. Her wicked step-mother and her two ugly sisters, however, wanted to keep her away as she was much prettier than them. When the ugly sisters left for the ball they left poor Cinderella in tears of disappointment.

Whilst she sat crying to herself, Cinderella had a visit from her Fairy Godmother who provided her with a wonderful new dress and a coach to travel in so she was able to go to the ball after all. At the ball she met the handsome prince and fell in love. At midnight she had to leave as the enchantment wore off. She left behind a glass slipper which the prince was able to use to track her down. They were married and lived happily ever after. Ahhhhhh!

This may seem odd to tell the story of Cinderella on a site about internet marketing, – albeit in a very abridged form. There is a lot about ‘life’ in this story. An individual has ambitions to do something special but those around them try to stop them from realising those ambitions. Admittedly, their motivation is often born out of love for that individual; born out of a desire to protect them. I read many years ago that when someone sets out to create their own business they get about seven times more negative feedback from their family and close friends than from any other source.

“It will never work,” say some of them. “My cousin tried that and ended up losing lots of money,” says another. “My best mate’s sister’s window cleaner says it’s a scam!” Etc. etc. etc. Trying to break away from the ‘usual’ approach to life and employment, sadly, often produces these kinds of response. Many people are set in their ways and perceive the pattern of life as prescribed; – there is a right way and a wrong way of doing things.

After school or university we get a job working for someone else, says the popular wisdom, and stay there until we retire. We will, hopefully, have opportunities for promotion or moving to another company to better ourselves, but basically we spend our whole working life trading our time for money as an employee. There is a certain security in that, but little if any real opportunity to spread our wings and control our own destiny.

Like the story of Cinderella, others will try to dissuade us from grasping the nettle and setting out to realise our own ambitions by setting up an online business. We will need to resist that negativity and find our own fairy godmother either through a mentor or quality online training. This will facilitate our desire to go it alone and realise our ambitions. Gone will be the days of working for others; doing what we are told to do; going where we are told to go; being at the beck and call of others who don’t seem to appreciate our true worth.

If you desire to gain control of your life then go for it! Don’t let the negativity of others get in the way. Set your sights on what you intend to achieve, find the best way to pursue that dream and focus on it. Walk the walk, seek out what you want from your life; find the route to the future you want for yourself and your family and, like Cinderella, “You will go to the ball.”

  1. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering
if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet
my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you
would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

    • Many thanks for the message. It’s always good to hear from people who enjoy what I write. I don’t use Twitter myself, – at the moment anyway. However, I have checked the WordPress Plugins and they have various avaialble widgets to link your blog and twitter account. (I use WordPress for my blogging) Whether other sites have such facility available I don’t know. If you don’t use WordPress I can certainly recommend it. There are all kinds of additional plugins and widgets available. Thank you again for your comments. Best wishes. Rob

  2. I think that everything typed was very reasonable.
But, what about this? suppose you typed a catchier post title?
I ain’t suggesting your information is not good, however what if you added a title to maybe get a person’s attention? I
mean The Christmas Pantomime Season: – Cinderella – Hinchliffe-Online is kinda boring.
You might peek at Yahoo’s front page and
note how they create news titles to get people to open the links.
You might add a related video or a related pic or two to get readers interested about what you’ve got to
say. Just my opinion, it would bring your website
    a little bit more interesting.

  3. My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net
from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of
the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less.
I’ve been using Movable-type on numerous websites for about a year and am anxious about switching
to another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

    • I’ve just found your comment again. I meant to respond earlier. I haver no experience of blogengine. I use WordPress and I am very happy with it. My first ever blog was on blogspot which was OK but I prefer WordPress. Sorry I can’t be more help. Best wishes, Rob

  4. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative
and engaging, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something which not enough people are speaking intelligently
about. I am very happy I found this during my hunt for something
    regarding this.
